A Fully Integrated Company Driven By Safety

Fully Integrated Company

Driven By Safety

50 years of innovations to serve critical railway applications such as DMI & Access control

The mobility transition in the railway sector requests even more autonomous and safe solutions for the transport of people and goods. These safety requirements are reflected in CENTRALP’s constant search for innovation, performance and quality.

For more than 50 years, the company has been specializing in designing, integrating and manufacturing embedded electronic solutions for safe environments. Focused on performances and durability, CENTRALP innovations have been adapted to railway applications such as train control and monitoring systems (TCMS), on-board signaling (ETCS – CBTC).

With the close involvement of a multi-disciplinary R&D department, as well as a complete and successful production unit, CENTRALP brings global and innovative solutions to the embedded systems market. As a fully integrated company, CENTRALP is the unique point of contact through the whole project lifecycle, from design to manufacturing and support - maintain, repair and overhaul.

SIL2 display systems on board new

Talgo ECx for Deutsche Bahn

Over the years, CENTRALP has become a major player in railway industry and was recently awarded a significant contract to supply its K-Vision xSafe DMI (Driver Machine Interface) to the Spanish rolling stock manufacturer Talgo. It is intended for use in the new ECx for Deutsche Bahn AG (DB).

K-Vision is a Human-Machine-Interface range dedicated to railway applications such as TCMS, CCTV or signaling (CBTC, ETCS). Since 2000, CENTRALP has been designing a wide range of DMI to meet the most standard as the most specialized demands. More than 50000 K-Vision has been installed in the world, from the french TGV to the Beijing subways.

K-Vision DMI range extends from the high runner: K-Vision Essential, to dedicated applications such as : redundant displays with the K-Vision xDual and SIL2 certified K-Vision xSafe.

In the ECx, the K-Vision xSafe will be used to display and manage the TCMS (Train Communication and Management System) user interface. It also provides a SIL2 display, with or without redundancy. Compliant with EN 50155 and EN 50121, the K-Vision xSafe is immediately operational and easily customizable.

Last generation of access control on sncf intercités trains

CENTRALP will supply CAF, the Spanish rail transport manufacturer, with its new generation of K-Access badge readers to equip SNCF Intercités trains.

CAF has ordered almost 200 latest-generation K-Access electronic badge readers from Centralp. This is the Spanish manufacturer’s first order with CENTRALP and it comes after CAF won a fixed order for Intercités equipment for 28 medium and long-distance multiple units on two SNCF lines.

K-Access is an embedded RFID & NFC badge reader system developed for mainline trains, metros and tramways. Designed to fit all customer configurations, K-Access is a complete system that combines cabin activation, door access, and data acquisition. The time-tested K-Access equips regional trains in France since 2010.

K-Access :3 modules to control and secure the train access

K-Access Desk Reader: cabin activation

Located in the train driver’s cab, K-Access Desk Reader (KDR) enables the cab activation by reading RFID badge. Linked to the KCU (K-Access Central Unit) database, it

secures driver access according to the authorization level.

K-Access External Reader: Door Access

K-Access External Reader (KER) allows access management to different entry points of the train. In connection with the KCU, the collected information are then controlled and recorded for door opening supervision.

K-Access Central Unit – Data acquisition

Core of the system, K-Access Central Unit (KCU) controls KDR and/or KER modules. Ensuring access authorizations and data integrity, KCU is also the train interface. It is

accessible via KLYP maintenance tool and integrates a realtime clock protected against power failure.

Emmanuel Bertucat, CENTRALP CEO, reacted to the news: “We’re delighted with the trust CAF has placed in us. Everyone at Centralp is committed to ensuring that this product, which we’re relying heavily on for the future, is launched successfully. CAF and SNCF will build on our experience and expertise in a market we’ve been working in for over 20 years.

K-VISION RANGE

KLYP: unique SOFTWARE

for fast time-to-market

Embedded systems needed for realtime control were initially designed as highly specialized systems running on specific processors and hardware. This meant that for every new embedded device or system being developed, new control software has to be written every time. Rather than re-inventing the wheel for a new product, a more generic approach was required.

Designed by CENTRALP, KLYP is a software platform built around Linux Yocto Project. With a modular architecture, KLYP helps you to improve engineering productivity while reducing porting cost.

Reusability of your development is a key point when it comes to software quality. KLYP allows you to maintain your code quality and thus to benefit from continuous improvement.

OPEN & SECURE

Based on Linux Yocto Project, KLYP benefits from this widely used open source platform. Your can use CENTRALP modules or develop yours with the support of Yocto’s large community and ecosystem.

KLYP offers a web-based maintenance tool to update your system. Yocto’s new developments and security releases are integrated in KLYP latest release.

MODULAR ARCHITECTURE

An unique software solution based on a specific architecture:

  • Modular architecture with a generic base managing product options and specific modules per project,
  • A standardized application interface minimizing client software porting.

Pre-integrated modules and tools are available as web-based maintenance tools, webbrowser, Qt library framework, etc.

IN-HOUSE

ENGINEERING & PRODUCTION

Made in France

Specially designed for industrialization and serial production, CENTRALP’s manufacturing facilities are equipped with cutting‑edge technologies. The company is continually investing in new equipment (SMC line, SMD storage systems, anechoic chamber, etc. ) and in team trainings. All of the processes and technologies for PCB assembly, multi-purpose wave soldering or selective soldering, robotized or manual selective coating are controlled within the French production plants.

Fully integrated company

CENTRALP is a fully integrated company with strong research and development capabilities in electronics, software & hardware, with french manufacturing facilities. As a global company, CENTRALP is your unique point of contact through your whole project lifecycle, from design to manufacture and support - maintain, repair and overhaul.

Custom project

Backed by an integrated engineering and in-house manufacturing unit, CENTRALP is able to act quickly and ahead of time to develop complete products and systems, from existing modules or from scratch.

Controlled process

CENTRALP demonstrates its ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer demands and applicable legal and regulatory requirements. CENTRALP aims to increase customer satisfaction through the effective application of strict and controlled processes. That’s why CENTRALP complies with the IRIS TS 22163 and EN 50155 standards.

Proof of performance

The test strategy is developed in the early design phases.

CENTRALP has its own Test & Qualification Lab to perform numerous tests and validations in extreme situation 24/7 as thermal test in climatic chambers (-40°C to 85°C), EMC test in anechoic chamber, etc.

This qualification process is completed by external independent laboratory for IP testing, shock and vibration testing, etc.
