Swing Tram for Warsaw by PESA
The Swing tram is equipped with traction inverters (4x105 kW each), auxiliary converters (2x30 kW each), all designed by MEDCOM. Trams has set of two modern traction inverters, which can power two motors on one bogie. Inverters are designed and built-up in IGBT technology. Inverter control system enables operation with torque control, regenerative or rheostatic braking. System is equipped with internal air-forced cooling and is mounted on the roof of the car. The input voltage is 600-750 V DC.

IMPULS EMU (type 35WE) for Warsaw by NEWAG
The IMPULS EMU (type 35WE) is equipped with traction inverters (4x800 kW), auxiliary converters (2x200 kW), TCMS, all designed by MEDCOM. EMU has 4 sets, IGBT based traction inverters that powers two motors. Inverter control system enables operation with torque control, regenerative or rheostatic braking. Train Control and Monitoring System controls all vehicle’s systems and performs diagnosis and supervision, displaying information for the driver and stores data for maintenance and repair.

Metro trains for São Paulo
The modernized Metro trains are equipped with traction inverters (24 inverters, 220 kW each), auxiliary converters (4x132 kVA each), train control system TCMS constitute the equipment delivered and designed by MEDCOM. Inverter control system enables operation with torque control, regenerative or rheostatic braking independently for each motor.
MEDCOM performs design, supplies and commissioning of TCMS system. TCMS (Train Control and Monitoring System) integrates the most critical subsystems to ensure the fail-safe system performance and the maintenance cost reduction. TCMS is fully compliant within EN50155 standard and covers four main issues: Fault Diagnosis and Monitoring Management, Traction/ Propulsion Control, Auxiliary and Communication. TCMS is suitable for the main application areas like: EMUs, DMUs, Metros, LRVs, Locomotives.
Internal and external communication is the most critical point with reference to TCMS. MEDCOM develops communication standard according to IEC 61375-1: TCMS internal communication results in safety, maintainability and cost reduction. The here above are fulfilled within the CANopen or MVB according to DS-301 CAN open protocol, which meets all these requirements.
TCMS external communication applies WTB standard. PowerCAN standard can be used as a low-cost alternative to the WTB for the train bus in Metros, LRVs and regional trains.

The Impuls EMU family: trains can consist of two sections (EMU 37WE), three sections (EMU 36WE), four sections (EMU 31WE) and six sections (EMU 35WE). All are controlled and powered by MEDCOM. The train 31WE marked 001, has reached the speed record (211 km/h) on the test track in 2013 and has been the fastest passenger train produced in Poland.

Solaris Trolleybus TROLLINO for PKT Gdynia with E-recycler system: Utracaps for a More Efficient Trolley System
E-recycler system is a sophisticated device that enables to use energy in the most efficient way. The idea of the system assumes rapid energy storage through braking energy recovery of the trolleybus which is in motion. The system is installed in the substation and its main benefit is reduction of grid power consumption (energy consumption up to 40% and peak power demand up to 50%). This is followed by energy reuse for acceleration and bridging non-powered sections.
The ultracapacitor will serve as a device to capture and store electricity recuperated by a braking trolleybus and not used at that moment by another trolleybus in need of power. The process of recuperation takes place when the trolley brakes and the vehicle’s engine operate
under the generator’s ‘work mode’. Additional energy accumulated by the ultracaps can also be consumed later by other trolleybuses, e.g. when there’s a temporary energy deficit.
E-recycler system for Jazz Duo LRV
New member of low-floor LRV family is PESA Jazz Duo for Warsaw. MEDCOM solution of traction inverter power traction motors creating very efficient electronic axles. Tramway has 4 sets IGBT based traction inverters that powers two motors. The inverter control system enables operation with torque control, regenerative or rheostatic braking. Traction and braking control system with slip and slide control functions supervises vehicle’s systems and performs diagnosis and monitoring, displaying information for the driver and stores data for maintenance and repair.
E-Recycler – energy storage system based on ultracapacitors
State –of-the-art solution for energy storage based on ultracapacitor banks is used in PESA Jazz Duo- the newest low-floor LRV for Warsaw. Recuperated energy is stored in capacitor batteries then used for tram auxiliary circuits during standstill or is transferred to inverters during the acceleration phase. In case of emergency run, stored energy is transferred to traction inverters delivering necessary power.
