Frauscher Sensor Technology India celebrates its milestone tenth anniversary this month, marking an impressive decade of accomplishments as a provider of axle counting and train detection solutions for Indian railways. During this period, it has carved itself a prominent presence in the industry, contributing to many iconic projects and introducing several technological firsts in the country. After opening its first corporate office in Bengaluru, Frauscher India expanded its operations to Mysuru, Mumbai, Kolkata and Gurgaon over the years, with more than 120 dedicated employees on board.
With its proven solutions successfully deployed in multiple countries worldwide, Frauscher Sensor Technology creates a solid value proposition around innovation, availability, and reliability when it comes to rail technology. Frauscher axle counters possess the distinct advantage of being tried and tested in more than 100 countries and in diverse rail applications exposed to extreme environments, significant temperature variations and electromagnetic influences.
Frauscher India has succeeded in making significant inroads into the Indian market in a short span of 10 years, thanks to its innovative breakthrough solutions that benefit the industry at large. Its axle counting systems are well recognised as an integral component of signalling and are working across all the Indian zonal railways using all the major railway applications and many metro systems along with dedicated freight corridors to optimise operations and efficiencies.
Akhilesh Yadav, Managing Director Frauscher India, said that the company has been part of some of the most prestigious projects in the country, including dedicated freight corridors, new metro systems, rapid rail transit systems as well as the Indian Railways main lines. Recently, the company introduced serial interfaces between the axle counter and interlocking in both Eastern (EDFC) and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors (WDFC), drastically reducing the need for multiple components and associated power supplies as well as maintenance requirements.
Frauscher India has also been involved in CBTC metros in Delhi, Noida, Lucknow, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Kochi, and Ahmedabad. The company is delighted to be a part of India's first semi-high speed intercity RRTS system, which requires the implementation of redundant systems to ensure high reliability.
Frauscher India places great emphasis on the "Make in India" initiative and it has already accomplished 70% indigenous production after opening its first local site in Mysuru in 2014 and is committed towards 100% in alignment with RDSO requirements in the near future. Its production site in Mysuru boasts state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities that enable seamless expansion to keep pace with dynamic demands of the market. Frauscher India will scale its capabilities in its Mysuru premises as part of its immediate expansion plans.
In a span of just 10 years, Frauscher India has bagged prestigious awards across diverse industries, including the award for Innovation in Electrical, Electronic Parts or Equipment along with the Award for Import Substitution – Make in India, highlighting their commitment to excellence. Accredited by the IRIS Silver Certification, Frauscher India joins the elite ranks as one of the first 20 organizations in India to achieve this incredible milestone.
The success of Frauscher India can be traced to its customer-centric approach to innovation. As Akhilesh Yadav says, “One of our biggest strengths is that we primarily focus on solving the customers’ problems and not just on selling our products. While railway operators are looking for safe, reliable, and state-of-the-art solutions requiring low maintenance, integrators are focusing on delivering the project in time with as little integration challenges as possible and smooth commissioning of new systems into operations.” Frauscher solutions can be customized to meet the unique needs of any railway project or application, and its business has been steadily growing over the last years not just in India, but also overall in Southeast Asia.
Stepping into its second decade, Frauscher India looks poised for even greater accomplishments while continuing to empower customers as well as the nation’s rail transport infrastructure at large with their unwavering pursuit of innovation.
