SZ – Vleka in tehnika (SZ-VIT), a Slovene provider of rail maintenance services, opened a new maintenance depot close to the port of Koper, offering inspections and minor repairs to operators of rolling stock transiting via the port. Located at VIT’s worksite adjacent to Koper tovorna station, the hall offers the latest in rolling stock maintenance in Slovenia.
The worksite is strategically placed to have a direct connection with the port, which reduces network congestion and offers fast breakdown service on the mainline rail connection to Koper. The section of route is heavily congested, so not having to give up capacity for depot trips means that more freight services can be accommodated.
The depot offers maintenance for your vehicle fleet, in particular running repairs for freight wagons. Of the two maintenance tracks, one can accommodate electric locomotives and has an under-floor inspection pit. The hall is about 57m long and 18m wide and measures 7m and 8m in height at the roof’s edge and ridge, respectively, and is also fitted with four automated sectional doors. Eight new lifting jacks were installed recently to improve work safety and enable lifting double carrier wagon units and twin-wagons.
The hall has all the air and power supply connections required for effective wreck repair. The recent upgrades will further improve the reliability, quality, and value for money of our maintenance services, minimize downtime and increase our productivity without adding to the congestion on the section of line between Koper and Divača.
