Efficient, Compact and Light: The SPEEDLITE ELV52 for air conditioning in rail vehicles
SPEEDLITE ELV52
BITZER, the refrigeration and air conditioning specialist, is launching its newly developed SPEEDLITE ELV52 for rail vehicles – to overcome challenges specific to the railways. The ultra-efficient scroll compressor will also be suitable for use with the natural refrigerant R290 (propane) in the future.
Robust, yet quiet and light: air conditioning components for rail vehicles must fulfil a unique set of demands. Following analysis of customer requirements, BITZER developed the ultra-compact SPEEDLITE ELV52 compressor specifically on the basis of these factors. The scroll compressor was specially designed for rail vehicles and electric buses, with a key focus on high efficiency, compact dimensions, low weight and low sound levels.
The SPEEDLITE ELV52 boasts a wide control range, making it ideal for applications prone to changing operating conditions – for extraordinary heating and cooling performance. The speed control adapts the compressor’s cooling capacity to meet current cooling and heating requirements, resulting in higher efficiency not only for the SPEEDLITE ELV52, but also for the entire system. Optimally adapting capacity to meet cooling and heating requirements ensures stable and convenient temperature control inside the rail vehicle.
Well-equipped to reduce energy consumption even further in the future, heat pumps are now used in a whole host of areas, including in homes. Some scroll compressors are not up to the task, but the SPEEDLITE ELV52 is. Thanks to its integrated economiser technology, this compressor offers an extended range of applications and is therefore ideal for use even in low ambient temperatures. Compared to electric heating systems, heat pumps achieve much higher efficiency and thus further reduce operating costs.
Due to the F-gas regulation, alternative refrigerants must already be used in many fields of applications. The SPEEDLITE ELV52 scroll compressor will be suitable for use with a variety of refrigerants, including low-GWP and the natural refrigerant R290
(propane).
