This year DEUTA celebrates its 15^th IconTrust anniversary and we took the opportunity to ask Dr. Rudolf Ganz, Technical CEO at DEUTA 5 questions.

Dr. Rudolf Ganz started his career 1999 at DEUTA. As technical CEO he is responsible for R&D, World Wide Sales, Quality, After Sales Service & Repair and Project- and Program Management.

This year you are celebrating 15 years of IconTrust®. With IconTrust®, DEUTA is the market leader for safe DMIs. How did you achieve this position?

IconTrust® monitors predefined areas on the TFT display and differentiates between valid and invalid information. Our customers value IconTrust® because it guarantees the safe display of data, regardless of the hardware platform and allows flexible customization of the application outside the monitored safe areas without updating the safety certificate.

This makes IconTrust® the most secure, reliable, flexible and cost-effective safety technology up to SIL3 for HMIs.

Are DEUTA IconTrust® HMIs a so called “Made in Germany” Product?

Yes, we design and produce our products "in-house" with a very high level of vertical integration, from design to software and hardware development to the assembly of boards and circuit boards, not least for IconTrust® displays. This makes us independent. providers. All departments are placed at the headquarter in Bergisch Gladbach.

DEUTA-WERKE is a family owned company with nearly 300 employees, which makes us flexible in our work and decisions in a very solid and financially strong environment.

How do you ensure the famous DEUTA
long-term availability for your IconTrust® products?

Anything that leaves production in Bergisch-Gladbach must be suitable for long-term usage. We analyze very carefully which components we use and only purchase e.g. extremely durable processors.

In addition DEUTA has a sophisticated storage system for components. For example, if a chip manufacturer cancels its product, Deuta moves a stock of semiconductors into the air conditioning towers that rise up in the factory halls. Here, chips and central components are stored under optimum conditions.

The towers can be flooded e.g. with nitrogen. This removes oxygen and prevents the semiconductors from corroding. As a result, they are available for many years and can be processed and assembled as required. We offer availability that allows customers to continue operating their vehicles for decades.

On the InnoTrans 2024 you will show a so called SelectTrust® panel with IconTrust® technology. Can you tell us something more about this panel?

Using the DEUTA SelectTrust Panel makes it really easy for our customers to configure safe digital buttons. Indicator lights and push buttons can be configured via a web browser in a very short time up to SIL3. Time- and cost-intensive work steps for project changes are not necessary. The new operating units are reconfigured remotely on the HMI.

What are your next IconTrust® projects?

We are really proud, that the first vehicles with IconTrust®-Head Up Displays will be exhibited during the InnoTrans 2024. DEUTA designed a Head-Up-Display combination with IconTrust® safety. Even in heavy traffic it is really helpful for the drivers that they have all important information e.g. like speed or collision warnings directly in front of the driving direction with. And we are glad that there are many other IconTrust® cooperation projects in progress like monitoring tunnel maintenance or fire protection systems.
